Parent & Carer Sessions
Relaxed spaces for adults to connect and talk openly with others who understand.
Peer support, practical guidance, and community — led by parents who understand.
Oswestry SEN Parents CIC is a peer parent support group. We exist to reduce isolation, build connection, and support parents raising children with SEND, suspected SEND, or emerging additional needs.
Everything we offer is grounded in lived experience and shared understanding — not judgement, pressure, or clinical processes.
Most of our support looks simple — and that’s intentional.
We create space for parents to talk, listen, and feel understood without having to explain everything from the beginning.
Sometimes parents come to talk.
Sometimes they come just to listen.
Sometimes they come because they’re exhausted and need to sit in a space where people understand.
All of that is OK here.
We run regular in-person meet-ups at set times and welcoming locations in Oswestry. These are lightly structured spaces — not appointments or formal sessions.
Relaxed spaces for adults to connect and talk openly with others who understand.
Children are always welcome at our parent coffee and natter sessions.
There’s no pressure to share.
No requirement to attend regularly.
No expectation to explain yourself.
Alongside listening and connection, we also offer practical support when parents ask for it. This support is rooted in lived experience and shared knowledge — not professional advice.
We help break down processes in plain English so they feel less overwhelming.
We can help parents reflect on options and feel clearer about what might come next.
Support with understanding or reviewing EHCP-related paperwork.
Help writing or reviewing communication with schools or services.
Practical guidance when completing forms feels daunting.
Sharing local organisations and trusted services that may help.
We do not replace professionals or provide medical or legal advice.
Advocacy is something we offer carefully and by request — not as a default.
Clear boundaries help everyone feel safe. Oswestry SEN Parents CIC:
What we do offer is something many parents struggle to find elsewhere:
Understanding.
Reassurance.
Shared experience.
Above all, we want parents to leave our spaces feeling:
If you come away feeling a little less alone than when you arrived, we’ve done what we set out to do.
Most of our day-to-day support happens inside our private Facebook group.
