Who We Are

We are local parents raising children with SEND.

We created this community because we understand how isolating, overwhelming and exhausting this journey can feel. Oswestry SEN Parents CIC exists to reduce isolation, build connection, and make sure no parent in our area feels they have to face SEND alone.

Why We Exist

A Legacy of Support

Oswestry SEN Parents CIC began in a very simple way. One local parent found that life could feel incredibly isolating when you’re raising a child with additional needs. Yet whenever other families realised they had SEND children too, something shifted. Conversations opened. Understanding grew. There was relief in being recognised. It became clear that many of us were quietly navigating similar challenges, just separately, in our own homes. So a small Facebook group was created, just in case other parents might want to talk to each other. They did. From those early conversations, connection grew. Meet-ups followed. A community formed.

No other local parent should have to face SEND alone.

This will always be a parent-led community shaped by lived experience.

How We Support Parents

Alongside peer support, we can gently help with practical steps too.

At our heart, we gather.

Because no parent should feel alone in this.

We meet in person.
We connect online.
We listen without judgement.
We support without pressure.

  • Peer support that feels human and understanding
  • In-person meet-ups in welcoming spaces
  • Practical guidance when parents ask for it
  • Advocacy alongside parents, by request
  • Plain-English information about SEND processes
  • Signposting to local services and trusted resources

“You don’t need to know the right words.
You don’t need a diagnosis.
You just need support.”

We do not replace professionals or provide medical or legal advice. What we offer is lived experience, solidarity and understanding.

Support Our Community

Oswestry SEN Parents CIC is run entirely by parent volunteers. We are a non-profit CIC and do not charge for our support.

If you are able to contribute financially, any donation goes directly towards keeping our community running — covering venue costs, resources, and running costs.

For Professionals

If you are contacting us for information or signposting purposes, please email us directly. We kindly ask that professionals use email rather than the Facebook group so that space can remain focused on parent-to-parent support.
