Safeguarding & Policies

Creating a safe, respectful and supportive environment for everyone in our community.

Oswestry SEN Parents CIC is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for children, young people, and adults.

Many of the families in our community are navigating complex and stressful situations. Safeguarding underpins everything we do, and we take our responsibilities seriously while remaining clear about the limits of our role as a peer support organisation.

Our Role & Boundaries

Oswestry SEN Parents CIC is a peer-led parent support organisation.

What We Provide

  • Peer support based on lived experience
  • Information and signposting
  • Practical support and advocacy when requested by a parent

What We Do Not Provide

  • Assessment or diagnosis
  • Medical, therapeutic, or legal advice
  • Replacement of statutory or professional services
  • Legal representation
  • Decision-making on behalf of families

Our Safeguarding Commitment

We believe that everyone has the right to feel safe, heard, and respected.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

While we respect confidentiality, information may be shared where there are concerns about safety or risk of harm. Any safeguarding concerns are taken seriously and responded to in line with our internal safeguarding policies.

Online & Community Safety

Our in-person activities and online spaces are moderated with wellbeing and safeguarding in mind.

We ask that:

  • Personal stories shared within the group are not shared elsewhere
  • Children are not identifiable in posts or images without consent
  • Boundaries between volunteers and families are respected

Images & Consent

Images of children are only shared with explicit parental or guardian consent. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.

Volunteers & Safer Working

Oswestry SEN Parents CIC is run by parent volunteers.

To protect families, volunteers, and the organisation:

  • Support is peer-based and not provided as a formal one-to-one service
  • Volunteers maintain clear and appropriate boundaries
  • Volunteers seek director support if concerns arise

Oswestry SEN Parents CIC is a Community Interest Company and does not operate for profit.
